The Flames Underneath the Laughter

Tiara’s POV

I woke up at 11 AM, not even guilty.

Last night, I binged an entire K-drama season on Netflix…

I know, I know. I’m basically a nocturnal owl with insomnia and a Wi-Fi addiction.

But today, no time to be lazy.

I have work to do.

Adri is coming over soon. And guess what?

Mr. Rudraveer Singh is coming too.

Ugh. That brooding, bossy man is now part of our group because he’s so close to my brother.

I tie my hair up, play my favorite playlist on Spotify, and head straight to the kitchen.

Today, I'm cooking proper Bengali dishes — mutton, luchi, polao, mango chutney, papad, and fruit dessert.

Let’s impress these drama kings.

I call Adri and ask her to come fast.

Bro and Veer will join us after their half-day leave from work.

God, I missed our adda — even if it involves Adi and Adri fighting like jungle cats.

But now… with Rudraveer Singh added to the mix, things feel... different.

---

Veer’s POV

Currently stuck in a boardroom, nodding at charts I don’t care about.

The only thing I’m thinking about is her.

My princess.

Cooking, humming, smiling… for everyone.

But soon, I’ll steal her time. Her smile. Her everything.

Just wait, my jaan.

By 2:30 PM, I’m in the car with Adi, heading to his apartment.

---

At Adi’s Apartment

As I rang the bell, the door opened.

And there she stood — in a white apron, strands of her hair tied messily, her cheeks slightly flushed from the heat of the kitchen.

She smiled.

I forgot how to blink.

The smell of spices, mustard oil, and sweetness fills the air as I walk inside. Adri is already setting the table.

After freshening up, Adi and I sit down — but there are only two plates.

Veer: “Tiara, aren’t you eating with us?”

Tiara: “After both of you finish, we’ll eat. We’re serving you.”

Veer: “No. Bring your and Adri’s plates. We have hands, don’t we?”

Adi: “Yeah, Misti. Don’t act like we’re royals or something.”

3rd Person’s POV

Tiara rolled her eyes but brought the plates.

They all sat together, laughing and eating.

The food was divine. Veer and Adi usually avoided oily dishes, but today… they couldn’t resist.

After the meal, the four of them settled into the drawing room for their favorite time — endless chitchat.

Tiara: “Let’s play Truth or Dare!”

Adri: “Yes! It will be so much fun !”

Adi: “No way. You’re kids—”

Veer: “Not happening.”

Tiara: “Excuse me? I'm 18. Not 8. Don’t treat me like a child.”

She brought the bottle before they could argue.

The first spin — it stopped at Adi.

Adri: “Truth or Dare?”

Adi: “Dare.”

Adri: “Okay, you have to wear a lady’s dress and dance to ‘Munni Badnam Hui’.”

Adi: “What!? No way. I have respect!”

Tiara: “Respect won’t save you. Davai! Take this gown and change.”

She handed him her red satin dress.

Fifteen minutes later…

Adi came out — grumbling — wearing the red gown. It was too tight, but that made it even funnier.

Adri: “Start dancing, drama queen.”

Tiara: “Wait, let me play the song.”

As “Munni Badnam Hui” started playing, Adi began lifting his hips, jumping, twisting like a confused peacock.

Everyone burst into laughter — real, stomach-hurting, tearful laughter.

Adi spun the bottle again.

It pointed at Tiara.

Adi: “Truth or Dare, little sister?”

Tiara: “Fine. Truth.”

Adri: “Okay, my turn to question.”

Adri: “Any current crush?”

Tiara: (groaning) “Ugh! Best friend betrayal. Tujh se to umeed nhi ki thi maine , tune Jaan bujh k davai k samne bola hai nh ? Mujhe sab samajh ata hai main andhi nhi hu ”

Adri: “Answer, drama queen.”

Veer: “Yes, Tiara. We’re all very interested.”

Tiara: (blushing slightly)

“Well… there’s this guy in my art class. He’s insanely good at portraits. Like… wow. He’s gentle, helpful, and kind. Sometimes he helps me with my shading techniques. It's not like i have a huge crush, it's just that I admire his art and his technique. Also I have a good bond with him too ”

Adri: “Ooooh! What’s his name?”

As Tiara blushed and stammered, Adi swallowed hard — not from shock, but from sensing danger.

Veer sat perfectly still — jaw clenched, eyes dark, his knuckles white under the table.

Only Adi could see the warning signs.

Adi: (jumping in)

“Okay okay! Next round, come on! Let’s move it forward before someone explodes—I mean, gets bored! Haha... ha...”

---

Veer’s POV

A random boy.

A random BOY caught my jaan's attention?

My princess Thinking of someone else? Admiring someone else?

I swear… whoever he is, his fingers won’t hold a pencil again.

But not now. Not in front of her.

I force a smile And look at her .But the fire… it’s lit. And it won’t go out without ashes.

Tiara’s POV

Okay. That was awkward.

Did I say too much? I mean... it’s just a tiny crush. Barely a crush. More like… admiration. Artistic appreciation!

But when I glanced at Veer after answering, something about his expression made my heart stutter.

He was smiling. But not the usual smirk. This one… was tight. Cold. Controlled. like sand k age laal kapda rakh diya.

Ughhh i don't like his smile at all , it's better before . Ajeeb aise kon hasta hai jaise kisiko kateel karne ka irada ho .

Suddenly, the room didn’t feel so light anymore.

Later That Evening

Adri left early. Adi had a client call so they both went to the office.

I spent my evening drawing a portrait of Radha Krishna ji .
